Swim Team 2016-2017
Following the inception of the program in the 2009-2010 winter season, the Westover Swimming program has seen fast growth and impressive improvement.
Though competition in swimming tends to have an individual focus, the challenging nature of the practices and the tight-knit nature of the team creates a camaraderie that is truly special. With nearly a handful of second place CISAC finishes in just a few years, the Wildcats are working hard for the title that has eluded them so far.
The girls' hard work at practice has led to several New England qualifiers each year, with the potential for many more this 2016-17 winter season. The team finished third in 2015 in the CISAC Championship of six participating teams and second place in 2016.
The Wildcats are excited to welcome nine varsity returners back to the team this season: Gracey Greco '17, Chloe Kirk '17, Emily Desjardins '18, Sophia Andrew '18, Julia Kenny '18, Captain Lydia Mahan '18, Taryn Carey '19, Maddie-Claire Norris '19, and Gabby Young '18 as well as several strong additions in the freshmen class. Returning this season to the program are seniors Maya Neuhoff, Abby Hodson, Alex Kagan and juniors Amodini Katoch and Julia Hwang. The Wildcats are coached by Kati Eggert and Scott Sutherland in their third season.
The Swim Team has made a big splash in the eight-year-old program's record books this season; seven of its 11 school records have been shattered.
Six Westover Wildcats representing all four varsity teams from the fall season have been honored as all-stars.
History was made Friday evening at the Fuller Athletic Center. Westover junior Gabbie Dunn became the first student-athlete in Westover history to reach 1,000 career points.
