The Westover School Field Hockey program has dedicated itself to
developing each athlete physically, psychologically and socially. Each
day challenges the players physically by encouraging athletes to push
themselves to exceed their expectations and previous accomplishments.
Team exercises and experiences teach each athlete life-skills including
self-discipline, courage, mental toughness, confidence, sportsmanship,
persistence and patience. Socially the players learn to foster
cooperation, healthful competition and appropriate standards of
behavior.
The 2006 Varsity Field Hockey team was semi-finalists in the Connecticut Independent School Athletic Conference playing in the tournament on the Connecticut College turf. The team has qualified for the CISAC tournament for the past six years finishing second in 2002.
The team looks forward to a very competitive season in 2007. The Wildcats return a New England All Star as well as the team’s leading scorer from 2006.
