In the wake of the devastating Haitian earthquake on January 12, Westover senior Missan DeSouza wanted to help, so she started C.A.S.H - the Coalition for Aid Support in Haiti - to support the relief effort.
“The recent earthquake in Haiti has humbled me incredibly, and compelled me to begin my own Haitian Relief Effort,” says Missan on her blog. The devastating earthquake hit Missan particularly hard since she knows a family living in Haiti.
As of 2/4/10 the group had raised $2544. Her organization is accepting donations to send to Haiti through the YELE Foundation, AmeriCares, and the Red Cross. Other students have enthusiastically joined the relief effort.
C.A.S.H. is conducting a variety of fundraising efforts. The group held a Jeans Day, and during the first three days in February students held a bake sale with goodies baked by faculty and students. The group is also planning to design T-Shirts and wristbands to raise further funds.

“Please support this new organization,” says Missan.
