counselor

Westover School seeks an experienced and empathetic mental health professional to serve as a Counselor in our new Counseling Center. This full time position will reports to the Director of Counseling and Student Support, and will work in close collaboration with the Health Services team and the Academic Dean to support students’ social-emotional well-being throughout the program. The Counselor will be a visible and approachable figure connected across all areas of the School community in his or her work, promoting a culture of compassion and a sense of balance in the busy lives of Westover girls.

Duties and Responsibilities:

CLINICAL
Provide individual counseling for students - both on a drop-in basis and as referred by faculty, staff or requested by the family
Lead and/or co-facilitate student support groups on areas of interest
Refer students to outside providers as necessary
Maintain close connections with the Director of Health Services, the Dean of Students, families, faculty, staff and outside treatment providers regarding student mental health concerns
Participate in weekly Student Assistance Team meetings with the Director of Counseling and Student Support, Dean of Students, Director of Health Services, Academic Dean, Director of Residential Life and the School Psychologist/Learning Center Coordinator
Develop social-emotional support plans for students requiring regular counseling services
Facilitate crisis response in urgent student mental health situations

EDUCATIONAL
Assist with and help to provide professional development opportunities for faculty, staff and parents on girls’ social-emotional well-being and be up to date on trends and developments in the field
Attend occasional meetings of dorm staff to provide education and support around relevant issues

ADMINISTRATIVE
Maintain records on all student counseling sessions
Maintain statistics on counseling center student usage

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have a minimum of three to five years of experience working in an educational setting and possess a graduate degree in social work, psychology, counseling or a related field
Independent licensure
Demonstrated ability to successfully work with teams and manage and execute projects
Strong communication and facilitation skills
Demonstrated ability to manage time and work independently, balancing multiple demands

Part-time activity van driver

Part-time activity van driver - Westover School - Middlebury, CT - Class “A” endorsement required; CDL highly desirable.This part time, school year position will include day, evening and weekend work and a very flexible work schedule. Drivers are assigned to school vehicles including minivans, express vans and activity vehicles.Applicants must also have a clean driving record and will undergo a background check and drug testing. Head Varsity Swim Coach

HEAD VARSITY SWIM COACH

Westover School is seeking an individual who possesses the skills and motivation to serve as Head Varsity Swim Coach. The candidate should have the ability to lead and motivate team members while providing a safe and positive environment as well as the ability to create level-appropriate workouts focusing on technique, stroke development, drills, endurance and race strategy.

Coaching experience and/or competitive swimming experience at the club/high school/college level preferred. Our team consists of highly competitive swimmers to novice swim team athletes looking for competitive growth and development.

Softball Coach

SOFTBALL COACH

Westover School is seeking an individual with strong skills in softball and the ability to coach at the varsity or JV level. We are looking for a coach who emphasizes teaching and program development, and who would be able to maintain the high level of play established over past years. Prior coaching experience is preferred.
