Job Description

The Dean of Students provides both strategic leadership and daily management of all aspects of community life, including residential life and health services. The Dean is a member of the senior administrative team and collaborates with them to maintain a safe and inclusive community, serving as an advocate for the students. The Dean is also responsible for administering and supervising student-focused events such as opening of school orientations, school traditions and other student life activities as well as the disciplinary process. The Dean coordinates training for student leaders and works with the Director of Residential Life to train and support the residential life staff. The Dean of Students directs student government organizations, chairs several relevant internal committees, and serves on other committees whose work affects the quality of student life.

Positions that report to the Dean of Students include: Director of Health Services, Director of Counseling, and Director of Residential Life.

Westover is seeking a positive, energetic personality who enjoys working with teenagers and has a track record of leadership to direct this important part of School life. As the School is about the embark on a strategic planning process for the 19-20 school year, this will be an opportunity to truly shape the direction of the program for the future.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree preferred;
  • At least five years teaching or relevant experience in an educational setting;
  • Commitment to supporting an intentionally inclusive community and a building a student life program that reflects diverse cultures and perspectives;
  • Strong interest and commitment to an all-girls educational model;
  • Experience with residential programming in an educational setting;

Computer Science & Math Teacher—Maternity Leave Coverage

Westover School is seeking a Computer Science and Math teacher to take up the position in spring 2019 to cover a maternity leave. The candidate would teach a full-year computer science course (possibly AP-level), introduction to computer science course, and honors geometry/algebra course.

Strength in coaching sports, especially softball, crew, or tennis would be a plus. The position does not include faculty housing.

Softball Coach

SOFTBALL COACH

Westover School is seeking an individual with strong skills in softball and the ability to coach at the varsity or JV level. We are looking for a coach who emphasizes teaching and program development, and who would be able to maintain the high level of play established over past years. Prior coaching experience is preferred.

assistant rowing coach

Westover School is looking for an assistant coach, for the 2019 spring season which begins at the end of March and extends through May. The candidate should have relevant experience coaching at the high school or college level and/or a successful personal background in competitive rowing.

Practices take place 5/6 days a week always in the afternoons. Entering our 6th season, we are continuing to develop the program.

Duties include all aspects of team organization, including practice planning and working closely with the head coach. Additional responsibilities include driving a coaching launch with an understanding of boating rules/safety. We are looking for an enthusiastic coach who will teach the basics of the rowing stroke to novice rowers and prepare more experienced rowers for competition, while also maintaining a fun and welcoming environment. The coach will have direct daily interaction and work with up to two coxed fours.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assume responsibility for safely and effectively coaching Westover School rowers on Lake Quassapaug, as well as off the water training.

• Pass background check and other references, as needed.

Part-time activity van driver

Part-time activity van driver - Westover School - Middlebury, CT - Class “A” endorsement required; CDL highly desirable.This part time, school year position will include day, evening and weekend work and a very flexible work schedule.
