Westover to Host Author Rachel Simmons on January 8
Westover will host the event "Leadership at Every Level" on Tuesday, January 8, on Westover's campus. Coordinated with the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools, the event will feature Rachel Simmons, the author of Enough As She Is: How to Help Girls Move Beyond Impossible Standards of Success to Live Healthy, Happy and Fulfilling Lives, and the New York Times bestsellers Odd Girl Out and The Curse of the Good Girl. As an educator, Rachel teaches girls and women skills to build their resilience, amplify their voices, and own their courage so that they—and their relationships—live with integrity and health.
Ms. Simmons' keynote address will kick off the event. Her talk will focus on empowering female leaders to step into their authority, manage expectations of perfectionism, and utilize their personal narratives as teaching devices. The remainder of the morning will include a panel discussion by several Connecticut-based education leaders followed by affinity group discussions over lunch.
"We are thrilled that Rachel is coming to campus and offering such an important, empowering program for female leaders. It is critical for women at all levels of management to see someone like them, to hear stories they can relate to and know that they can persevere and reach their goals," said Julie Faulstich, Head of School.
The program will focus on female leadership in the education field; however, the event is open to all. Registration can be found on the professional development website of the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools: caispd.org.
