Campus Renovations: Refreshing and restoring the main building
Sense of Place
Continuing Westover's tradition as the school where girls confidently live and learn and where they build connections that will last a lifetime, we are embarking on this project to make improvements and enhancements to our historic main building.
Creating the Student Commons will improve and enhance the day-to-day lives of the girls. The scope of the project includes a multi-purpose living and learning center, group study space, and a new student cafe.
When completed, The Commons will be the heart of student life; a warm, welcoming space for the girls to gather, study, and relax. It will feature a full student cafe, a large open veranda, the latest in technology and media, and 2,500 square feet which will provide exciting new opportunities for the girls to interact, socialize, and host other schools.
We are committed to student input for this initiative. Benjamin Hildebrand, Assistant Head of School, has conducted meetings with the girls to talk about how they imagine they will utilize the space. The Commons will reflect the girls’ desire to have comfortable spaces that encourage conversation and connection. We want it to be theirs in every sense and we are certain it will be a place where many strong Westover memories are made.
This new outdoor veranda will provide a beautiful spot for casual conversation while experiencing the enchanting outdoor setting that is the Westover campus.
This newly created space will enhance the Student Commons and provide more opportunities for all girls - boarding and day students - to come together, learn, and socialize in a place that is their own.
The renovation work will commence immediately after Graduation in June 2018. The Student Commons and Veranda will be completed in this summer and will be ready for our students to enjoy in September.
