Varsity Cross Country
Varsity Cross Country 2018
During the 2004 preseason, the team created its own 5-kilometer course that tumbles through the hills and woods of the Westover campus. Though the course has changed multiple times since then, it remains a beautiful and challenging place to host home meets. The 2012 Div. III New England Championship race was held on Westover's current course.
The team prides itself on its work ethic and dedication and is looking forward to another successful season, including a repeat for the CISAC title. The 2018 team is coached by head coach Kate Seyboth and assistant coach Jenny Green and is led by captains Madeline Norris '19, Brigid Protzmann '19, and Gabby Young '19.
Kate Seyboth - Varsity Cross Country Head Coach
Kate Seyboth is the Co-Director of the WISE Program at Westover and began coaching Cross Country and Varsity Volleyball in the 2006-2007 school year. In her youth, Kate played competitive volleyball and softball before focusing more seriously on her swimming career. She ran cross country in high school and swam competitively through high school and college. She was on her high school state swim team all four years, and competed in the NESCAC swimming finals in three events as a freshman at Tufts. In 2004, she successfully completed the Boston Marathon. Kate has coached her home town club swim team in some form since the age of 13, becoming head coach in 2006.
Jennifer Green - Varsity Assistant Cross Country Coach
Jenny Green ran cross country and track for Phillips Exeter Academy and Emory University. She continues to compete in local races and has completed three marathons with a personal best of three hours 27 minutes. This is Jenny's second year assistant coaching cross country at Westover; she loves running with the girls at practice and seeing their confidence grow over the course of the season.
