The 2018 Varsity Soccer Team
Westover's soccer program has been continually improving over the years. The Wildcat philosophy is based on sportsmanship, hard work, commitment, and dedication to school, team and self. Each season begins in August with a pre-season sports camp that includes a variety of conditioning, strength training, and tactical and technical drills. During this camp, players bond with each other and learn what it is like to be a complete player. They also come to understand the importance of positive spirit and consistent tactical team play.
The mission of the soccer program is to promote the development of the complete athlete, with novice players as well as accomplished athletes. These athletes learn to move out of their comfort zones in order to compete to the best of their abilities both on the field and in the classroom.
The 2018 team is a young team with only six returning varsity players, but have gained some very talented underclassmen. The Wildcats soccer program is looking to have a competitive schedule under Head Coach Sara Reid in her first year in this position, and assistant coach Abby Woodworth, who is new to the program. The 2018 soccer captains are Xitlali '19 and Alex '19, and assistant captains Whitney '19 and Mia '20.
