Glimpse of the Week

Image

Dear Parents,

I hope you all enjoyed some rest and time with family and friends over the Thanksgiving break. It is so wonderful to have the girls back with the holiday spirit in the air. I would like to let you all know that we had a glitch with the first post of grades and comments in that no dorm comments were incorporated. The updated comments are now posted on the Parent Portal. Please take another look!

The Tip Off Classic basketball tournament, which will take place this Friday and Saturday in the Fuller Athletic Center, will get the Wildcats season off to a quick start. Additionally, preparations are well underway for the Candlelight Services of Lessons and Carols, December 14-16. While the Friday night service is for students, faculty and staff only, please visit the Parent Portal to make reservations to the Saturday evening or Sunday matinee performances.

Saturday we will host our final fall admissions information session from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Do you know someone interested in learning more about Westover? Please encourage them to register for the session today!

The Westover community will be participating in the Middlebury tree lighting on the Green this Saturday, December 1 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm. We invite you to enjoy this free event, enjoy delicious cookies in Red Hall, and get into the holiday spirit with us. No RSVP required. Please enter through the front door.

Message from the Director of Diversity and Inclusion

Dear Parents,

We are excited to add an option to our uniform that forwards our goals of inclusivity at Westover. This option has been student-driven, selected by Spectrum, and is in keeping with the spirit of the current uniform. Spectrum is Westover's LGBTQ+ awareness club. Any student is welcome to purchase the pant option for this years traditions.

You may order (bright white option only):

This option from Old Navy
OR
This option from JCPenney

You should have plenty of time to place your order to ensure that they will be here for Candlelight on December 14th. This will be the first time this school year that the uniforms will be worn. There is an opportunity available for assistance with ordering or purchasing. If you have any questions about this, please contact Mrs. Collier Dickenman, Director of Financial Aid/Admission Associate.

Sincerely,
Mary Taylor
Director of Diversity and Inclusion

A Westover School Holiday tradition, The Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, December 15th, at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 16th at 3:30 p.m., followed by refreshments and entertainment in Red Hall.

Reservations  can be made on the Parent Portal. If you cannot attend in person, we will be broadcasting the sessions via our Livestream.

The Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols is a cherished Westover tradition. At the heart of the service is nine lessons read by students, each followed by the lighting of a candle and a carol sung by the Glee Club, a small ensemble, or the entire congregation. At the end of the service, all sing Silent Night in a Chapel lit only by candles. Following the service is a festive reception for all in Red Hall, with more songs and a short performance by the Dance Ensemble, a cappella singing groups and Gospel Choir.
