Everyone Watches Women’s Sports | Wildcats at the USWNT Match

Westover’s varsity soccer team traveled to East Hartford, CT, on October 26 to see the U.S. Women’s National Team take on Portugal.
With the fall season wrapping up in the coming weeks, Westover Athletics sought to bring students together beyond Afternoon Activities. The soccer team, aspiring athletes, and faculty and staff—including Head of School Polly Fredlund P’25—attended the match to cheer on Team USA and celebrate the spirit of women’s sports.

At Westover, all students participate in Afternoon Activities, exploring interests across athletics and the arts. From soccer and field hockey to dance, costuming, and theater tech, there is something for every Westover student to explore.

Soccer team member Emma M. ’27 captured the day through a vlog, highlighting both the excitement of the game and her passion for the sport.

“Women’s soccer has gained so much recognition since I was younger, and it makes me both proud and happy,” Emma shared. “It deserves all of the love it has now and more, and to be able to attend and support its growth was a joy. I love soccer and it’s a big part of my life, so being able to attend a game and support women’s soccer even more is definitely a highlight of my year.”

The School community continues to champion the importance and impact of women’s sports—whether through playing, coaching, or cheering on athletes at Westover and beyond.

Looking ahead, Westover Athletics is excited to host another Blue Out this spring. This spirited event brings together students, faculty, staff, and community members to celebrate and support Westover’s athletes.
