The Dorcas Fair Returns February 8: A Celebration of Community, Service, and Joy

On Sunday, February 8, from 2:00–4:00 p.m., the Fuller Athletic Center will once again come alive with fun, creativity, and connection as Westover’s annual Dorcas Fair returns. Planned and led by the junior class, this cherished tradition reflects the heart of the Dorcas Society, bringing people together in service, friendship, and shared purpose.
Under the leadership of Heads Olivia J. ’27, Memphis R. ’27, and Jess M. ’27, this year’s class has spent months working side by side to design an afternoon filled with games, treats, surprises, and a secret theme. Every detail reflects their care and desire to create something joyful for the entire community.
Dorcas has been part of Westover life since 1909, when Miss Hillard, the School’s founding Head of School, founded the Dorcas Society to encourage compassion, responsibility, and a commitment to serving others. More than a century later, those values continue to guide each new generation of students as the Junior Class carries this tradition forward.

This year, the Class of 2027 is proud to support Companion Pet Rescue, a local organization that rescues over 2,500 dogs a year and is especially meaningful to many in our community. Several Westover faculty members have adopted pets through the rescue, making this cause a personal and heartfelt choice.
“At its heart, Dorcas is about bringing people together to connect with one another and with the surrounding community through a shared goal of raising money and awareness,” says Olivia. “When people work together with intention and care, even small contributions can lead to a meaningful impact.”

For the juniors, Dorcas is not only about fundraising. It is about learning to collaborate, motivate one another, and create a positive team environment. Through months of planning, problem-solving, and shared laughter, they have built lasting bonds and strengthened their sense of belonging.

For visitors, the Dorcas Fair offers more than an afternoon of fun. It is an invitation to experience Westover’s mission in action: students leading with empathy, working with purpose, and using their talents to make a difference.

All are welcome to join the Junior Class on February 8 for an afternoon that celebrates tradition, generosity, and the joy of coming together.

The fair will be held in the Fuller Athletic Center on Westover’s Campus. Please enter on Library Road. Cash and card (sorry, no Apple Pay) will be accepted.
