Westover vs. Watkinson

Cats drop hard fought battle to Watkinson.
The Cats came out of the gate strong and set the tone early, going into halftime with the lead. The Cats started the game with their trademark high energy, stifling defense and relentless rebounding.  Playing like every possession mattered, the Cats controlled the first half.
Watkinson made their push in the second half, and credit to them for capitalizing on their runs. They found momentum late and edged ahead, but this was a game that could’ve gone either way.
Aniella led the way with 15 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block — doing everything she could to keep her team steady on both ends of the floor. Terese knocked down a critical three pointer that shifted momentum and battled for 6 rebounds. Sophie was a force inside with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks — controlling the paint and protecting the rim.
Georgia was the defensive anchor, making effort plays all over the floor with 4 assists and 2 blocks. Eva was relentless on the glass with 9 rebounds, grabbing everything in sight and hitting a big bucket when we needed it. Akemi came up clutch with massive three-pointers to keep us in front during key stretches.
This one stings. No way around it. We had it at halftime. We felt it. But games like this build toughness. They expose what we need to sharpen and remind us how close we are.
Now it’s on to King.
